Derek Rope Saskatoon Athletics

Rope is a long-time volunteer and supporter of youth athletics who has helped to start multiple track and field clubs in Indigenous communities. Rope is currently the Chair of Saskatchewan Aboriginal Track and Field, a position he has held since 2008, and is a former board member of Saskatchewan Athletics (2011-17). Since 2017, Rope has helped to organize more than 10 community track and field clinics for young athletes and has run several coaching symposiums to support new track and field coaches. Rope has also served as Team Saskatchewan Athletics Development Co-ordinator at multiple North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) and received a Saskatchewan Athletics Coaching award in 2017 for his contributions at NAIG. In addition to these roles, Rope served as meet director for the Aboriginal Indoor Track and Field Championships in Saskatoon and has volunteered at multiple Tony Cote Summer Games.
