Since 2003, when he started rating courses, Smith has been a dedicated Golf Saskatchewan volunteer. In that time, he has sat on the organization’s board of directors and served on various committees, including programs and member services, course rating, handicap and executive. In 2014-15, Smith served as the President of Golf Saskatchewan and in 2018 he was recognized with the organization’s Long-Term and Exemplary Volunteer Service Award. In addition to his provincial service, Smith has taken on several roles with Golf Canada and currently serves as the chair of the organization’s course rating and handicap committee. Smith has also contributed to national and international golf events within the province, most recently volunteering at the LPGA’s CP Women’s Open in Regina.
