Saskatchewan's premier athletes, volunteers, coaches and officials were recognized at the Saskatchewan Sport Awards in Saskatoon. Hosted by Sask Sport Inc., a federation of provincial sport governing bodies, the event featured the 2010 Athlete of the Year Awards, Volunteer Recognition Awards, Coaches Awards and Officials' Awards.

AMBER HOLLAND CURLING TEAM NAMED SASK SPORT INC. MARCH ATHLETE OF THE MONTH
After capturing the gold at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts National Championship, the Amber Holland Curling Team moved on to compete in their first ever World Women's Curling Championship. They played an amazing tournament and competed against 12 separate teams to come home with a silver medal.

HELP CELEBRATE COACHES WEEK IN SASKATCHEWAN
The Coaches Association of Saskatchewan has designated May 22-29, 2011 as Coaches Week in Saskatchewan. The week is designed to recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions coaches make to sport and their communities. The week also aims to promote coaching, encourage people to become coaches, and to offer education opportunities for Saskatchewan coaches. Sport Organizations, Communities, Districts, Schools, Universities, Tribal Councils, Métis Locals, etc. are encouraged to consider planning something for coaches during Coaches Week 2011. Keep checking the CAS website for Coaches Week activities as plan progress.

Get Your Sport Involved! Brought to you by CBC Sports, ParticipACTION and True Sport, Sports Day in Canada is a national celebration of sport at all levels in communities across the country. Again this year, local organizations, schools and clubs, big and small, are invited to host open-houses, try it days, competitions and tournaments in the week leading up to and including Sports Day on September 17.

STACEY LEVITT WOMEN AND SPORT SCHOLARSHIP
The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) is now accepting applications for the 2011 Stacey Levitt Women and Sport Scholarship. The scholarship, valued at $2,500, is awarded annually to a young woman, a girls’ team, or a sport organization that exemplify Stacey’s ideals and qualities. The scholarship, which honours the memory of Stacey, is distributed among five recipients; each recipient will receive $500. Applications will only be accepted between April 1, 2011 and May 31, 2011.
