    SPORT DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN 2017-2021
A Playbook to Support Leaders in Action
The Sport Development Strategic Plan for 2017-2021 came into effect April 1st and is available for your reference at www.sasksport.sk.ca/pdf/StrategicPlan2017-2021.pdf
The plan charts the course to maximize both sport participation and excellence, as well as the many contributions that sport can make to our society. It is intended to be a guiding document and a point of reference for sport organizations. It addresses the needs of our changing province - from shifting demographics, to increasing levels of inactivity, as well as rising costs and the changing face of volunteerism. It is important that the sport system continues to work together, leading in action, to ensure all Saskatchewan residents have the opportunity to participate and enjoy the many benefits of sport.

    REMEMBERING ELDER OLIVER CAMERON

Sask Sport Inc. was saddened to learn of the passing of Elder Oliver Cameron on March 30, 2017. Elder Cameron was a friend, leader and role model who was passionate about providing opportunities for our youth through sport.

In 2015, Elder Cameron joined the Aboriginal Sport Leadership Council, a committee of community volunteers who are invested in ensuring Sask Sport Inc.'s strategies are aimed at further Aboriginal participation in sport. Elder Cameron provided valuable guidance and mentorship during his time on the council. "We were privileged to have Elder Cameron's passion, guidance and support of our work at the Aboriginal Sport Leadership Council," said Audra Young, Council Chairperson. "Thank you to his family for lending us that precious time we had with him. We will continue our work in his honour."

Elder Cameron believed in sport as a tool for social development. He thought it built leaders and provided life skills. He was truly a force for sport development throughout the province and will be missed.
