    The Saskatchewan Sport Hall of Fame is pleased to announce, as part of the celebration of 2015 The Year of Sport, an enhancement of our visitor experience with the installation of a multi-sport simulator in Gallery II. We are ready for action! The simulator is accessible to our visitors as part of the regular admission price or free for members (please bring your membership card) who enjoy unlimited visits. The simulator lets you play like a pro as it brings the excitement of the sports arenas into the galleries with incredible precision, real equipment and amazingly lifelike game play. Sports available for play include hockey, football (quarterback or kicker), baseball (hitting & pitching), soccer, basketball, golf, rugby and cricket, among others.

    CAAWS WOMEN AND LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP: EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
    Tuesday March 10, 2015 from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
    In the workplace, effective communication is the foundation for better job performance and relationship building. After this workshop, participants will be more strategic and efficient in their communication.
  • Consider the importance of your personal brand
  • Learn about four distinct communication styles, and identify your preferred style
  • Discuss electronic communication and social media etiquette, and how to avoid common pitfalls

    LONG TERM ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT - SASKATCHEWAN SUMMIT FOR SPORT LEADERS
    Nationally and Internationally recognized experts in Long Term Athlete Development Istvan Bayli and Carolyn Trono are coming to Saskatchewan to lead a professional development day for professional and volunteer coaches, technical directors and PSGB & District staff & volunteers.
    All interested Sask Sport Members and your members (Community coaches, league organizers, etc.) are invited! Workshop content will be relevant to PSGB & Districts technical staff; professional HPCC coaches; Advance Coaching Diploma candidates; and volunteer community coaches working with 12 to 16 year old athletes. Also, community sport program, league and tournament organizers are all invited to attend.

    2014 VOLUNTEER AWARD PRESENTATION - AL DYER • PRINCE ALBERT
    At the Special Olympics Saskatchewan - 2015 SaskTel Awards Banquet, on Saturday, February 21st, 2015, Sask Sport Inc. Board of Director, Terry Hooper, presented the Saskatchewan Sport 2014 Volunteer Award to Al Dyer. Al is from Prince Albert and was nominated by Special Olympics Saskatchewan. Volunteers tirelessly dedicate their time to ensure sporting programs and events run smoothly and Sask Sport Inc. and Special Olympics Saskatchewan is proud to recognize that for the last two years, the recipients of the Saskatchewan Sport Volunteer Award have gone to members of their organization. Darren Whitehead, also of Prince Albert was also honoured for receiving the 2013 Volunteer award.

    SASK SPORT INC. ANNOUNCES THE JANUARY ATHLETE OF THE MONTH AWARD RECIPIENT
    Juliette Wheler of Saskatoon is the recipient of the Sask Sport Inc. January Athlete of the Month Award. She was nominated by the Saskatchewan Amateur Speed Skating Association. Wheler qualified for the Junior World LT Championships thanks to a strong performance at the Canadian Junior Championships. She placed first in both the 3000-metre and 1500m, while finishing third overall at the event. Wheler was also fifth in the 1000m and seventh in the 500m. She also competed at the Canadian Senior Championships. Her results were: fifth, 1500m; eighth, 3000m; 10th, 500m; and 12th, 1000m.

    PARASPORT SPORT EQUIPMENT GRANT & PARASPORT SPORT CLUB DEVELOPMENT GRANT
    Active or Affiliate members of Sask Sport Inc. are eligible to apply for support, but in addition, member organizations may partner with local or community organizations/clubs to further develop capacity for Parasport programming in the province.     CAAWS WOMEN AND LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS
    Sask Sport Inc., in partnership with the Canadian Association of the Advancement of Women in Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), is offering CAAWS Women and Leadership Workshops. Three 3-hour workshops are available, designed to be delivered to a female only audience. Target Audience: These workshops are available for those interested in hosting workshops for female-only audiences, addressing women working or volunteering in Canada's sport and physical activity sector (administrators, coaches, officials, board members, volunteers etc.). These workshops are appropriate for hosting at events such as AGM's, coach development clinics, sport conferences, volunteer development etc. Interested in scheduling a workshop, contact: Noreen Murphy, Sask Sport Inc.     WE BUILD FRIENDSHIPS THROUGH SPORT
    The Canada Sports Exchange Programs (CSFEP) organizes reciprocal cultural exchanges, involving Francophone and Anglophone youth across Canada. The aims and goals are to promote friendship, respect and better understanding of each other's language and culture. These exchanges are open to all youth from sports and non-sports groups between the ages of 12 and 17 years of age. This is an opportunity and experience of a lifetime for youth in your area! The CSFEP receives a contribution from the Federal Government, Department of Canadian Heritage, to help cover travel expenses for these exchanges. Read More

     

    NCCP - RUN JUMP THROW INSTRUCTOR COURSE
    Saturday, March 28th - Sunday, March 29th, 2015
    Run Jump Throw: This coaching context and course is ideal for coaches/teachers/ instructors/parents who have little to no sport experience or wish to teach the basics of fundamental movement skills with games to reinforce skills with young athletes generally between the ages of 7 to 12 years of age (i.e. grassroots/FUNdamentals). The weekend workshop is for those who are coaching short range events such as 1 day fun days, to day camp programs, to once a week programs offered over a few months. The focus at this level of coaching is on FUN and not on competition.
    Who: All are welcome. Must be 16 years of age to receive NCCP credit for the course.

    Wear pink on April 1, 2015 and show the world that you can imagine no bullying. It takes a year-round, whole community approach. But together we can help stop bullying behaviour. Red Cross Day of Pink is a day to bring awareness to bullying issues in Saskatchewan and encourage others to join the movement.

    The 2015 Conversation Women in Sport Conference - Moving the World Forward: Make the Change Happen
    June 9 - 12, 2015
    Quebec City, Quebec - Laval University

    Laval University, in collaboration with the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women, Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), Egale Action (the Quebec Association for women in sport), Promotion Plus (BC) and Quebec en forme, will host the next national conference on women in sport: The 2015 Conversation: Moving the World Forward - Make the Change Happen. The "conversation" has been designed to help participants find concrete solutions to the recurring problems facing girls and women in the Canadian sport system.

    PSGB Executive Directors and/or senior administrative staff are eligible to apply for funding support to attend this conference as a professional development opportunity. Sask Sport will provide up to $500.00 per organization on a matching basis with the Provincial Sport Governing Body to assist individuals with costs related to attending.
