BRIANNE THIESEN NAMED SASK SPORT INC. JUNE ATHLETE OF THE MONTH
Theisen competed for the University of Oregon at the NCAA Division One Outdoor Track and Field Championship, where she achieved a new personal best of 6,094 points to earn the gold medal in the heptathlon. With this finish, she reclaimed her 2009 title, which put her 9th on the all-time collegiate list. She also broke her own school record for the heptathlon and 100m hurdles, as well as her 2009 Saskatchewan Athletics Senior and Open records for the heptathlon. Read More

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES FUND (CIF) - PHYSICAL ACTIVITY GRANT PROGRAM
The CIF Physical Activity Grant Program supports strategic projects and initiatives that will advance the physical activity movement in Saskatchewan and increase the level of physical activity of Saskatchewan people. The program aims to engage and mobilize physical activity sector partners to foster collective will and leadership and increase community capacity through enhanced cross-sectoral cooperation. THE WATROUS MANITOU WINS BEST LOCAL COACH STORY CONTEST
The Coaches Association of Saskatchewan is pleased to announce that The Watrous Manitou is the winner of the Saskatchewan Coaches Week – Best Local Coach Story Contest. The winning story was titled: Grabbing Hold of Opportunity to Coach written by Daniel Bushman. The Watrous Manitou was presented a cheque for $500 for winning the contest and graciously donated $250 to the local Judo club to support coach education. The Sask Weekly Newspapers were invited to participate in the contest as part of the 2010 Coaches Week activities in Saskatchewan. Thank you to all those that participated. CAS website
