    All of us here at Sask Sport are #SaskProud of Team Saskatchewan - who took part in naig2017.to in Toronto. We are #SaskProud to say that the athletes, coaches & teams representing Saskatchewan brought home 164 medals, coming in second place overall! Great job Saskatchewan!     WORLD PARA ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS LONDON 2017
    Took place from July 14-23 in London and we are #SaskProud of a strong Saskatchewan contingent, that took part! We were excited to watch it all take place thanks to a Facebook Live feed, courtesy of Canadian Paralympic Team we were able to tune in and watch as Canada & Saskatchewan competed against the best in the world!

    Have you followed Team Sask yet? From July 28 to August 13, 2017, Team Sask will compete at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg. Meet the Team Sask roster of athletes, coaches and mission staff.

    The 2017 Canada Summer Games are taking place from July 28th to August 13th in Winnipeg, Manitoba -- the largest-ever city to host a Canada Games. With 16 sports, over 250 events and a major cultural festival, the 2017 Canada Games will welcome over 4,000 athletes and coaches and more than 20,000 visitors. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Canada Games as well as Canada's 150th birthday, a combination of celebrations that's promising to make for "the hottest summer in half a century!"

    TEAM CANADA TO THE FIBA U19 WORLD CUP
    We're #SaskProud of the entire Canada Basketball program and were excited to watch. We are especially proud of 2 members of Team Canada / Équipe Canada that took part in the FIBA U19 World Cup. The 16-team event will take place from July 22-30 in Udine and Cividale del Friuli.

     

    SASKATCHEWAN'S FIRST WHEELCHAIR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FENCING MEDAL!
    Yet again we were feeling #SaskProud as Ryan Rousell was on the podium receiving his bronze medal in Warsaw, at the U23 Wheelchair World Championship! This marks Saskatchewan's first Wheelchair World Championship Fencing medal! Congratulations to Ryan, his coaches and support staff!

    DTH started playing rugby in Canada, in Regina at Leboldus High School and is now Canada's all-time leading try scorer! Congratulations, on this incredible accomplishment!

    PETERS & PILON CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

    The 2017 Peters & Pilon Celebrity Golf Banquet and Tournament took place on July 19 & 20th at the Dakota Dunes Golf Course. The theme this year was "The Women of Hockey" and special guests included Cassie Campbell, Colleen Sostorics, Dana Antal, Carla MacLeod, Sydney Daniels & Saskatoon’s own Emily Clark, one of the bright young future stars for Team Canada. The banquet was hosted by Rogers Sportsnet television personality, Martine Gaillard who is originally from Yorkton, SK. Through a partnership with the SaskTel Centre the organizing committee hosted 50/50 ticket sales at the Taste of Saskatchewan event and the jackpot ended up at $36,760! Congratulations to our Peters & Pilon Celebrity Golf Tournament & Taste of Saskatchewan 50/50 winner Jerry (Jake) LaPlante from Houston Texas held the winning ticket - KS2-100186 - taking home $18,380.00!

    Thank you to the sponsors, volunteers and participants who came out and helped make sure the event was another huge success. Also big thanks to our friends at SaskTel Centre who gave KidSport Saskatchewan the opportunity to sell 50/50 tickets at their event. All event and raffle proceeds will be used to help get more Saskatchewan children into community sport programs.

    THE 7TH ANNUAL KIDSPORT GOLF INVITATIONAL PROUDLY PRESENTED BY BENNETT DUNLOP FORD

    On Monday, July 24, 2017 the 7th Annual KidSport Golf Invitational was held at the Wascana Country Club. Bennett Dunlop Ford graciously donated a one-year lease on a 2017 Ford Escape and 100% of the event proceeds went towards paying registration fees or to purchasing equipment So ALL Kids Can Play! A special thanks to the tournament sponsors, the steering committee and to everyone who attended the tournament. Even though the tournament had the first ever hole in one, courtesy of Nick Turanich, the highlight of the event was hearing about how KidSport has impacted the life of one courageous young man who shared his story and received a standing ovation. Congratulations to Chris Kwas, the lucky winner of a one-year lease and a huge thank you to Trevor Boquist and his team at Bennett Dunlop for donating the vehicle and sponsoring the event.

    KIDSPORT & SOCCER DAY IN SASKATCHEWAN

    Thank you to everyone who came out in support of KidSport Saskatchewan at Soccer Day in Saskatchewan! The event was an incredible success and the excitement level for youth in sport has never been higher. Also thanks to Saskatchewan Soccer Association for the incredible opportunity for youth to be part of the Valencia CF walk-out crew for the opening ceremonies that took place on Saturday, July 22 at Mosaic Stadium - what an amazing day for the kids involved!

    SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS

    The Saskatchewan Roughriders back home at the new Mosaic Stadium for more hometown CFL match-ups and KidSport will be there too! Thank you, to the coaches, players and staff of the Riders for encouraging youth in our communities to participate in sport.

    We appreciate everything the Saskatchewan sport community does to help get kids off the sidelines and into the game. KidSport would not be where we are without you! Thank you as well to our staff and volunteers, who continue to make these events possible with their hard work and dedication, #SoALLKidsCanPlay

    Fuelling Women Champions Fund awarding 30 grants! Deadline September 20, 2017.
    Created by Dairy Farmers of Canada to empower the female athletic community and provide a resource that can help change the game for Canada’s young girls and women athletes, this year the Champions Fund will award $5,000 grants to 30 deserving female athletes, teams, or organizations to help pursue their athletic goals.     2017 Parasport Jumpstart Fund Applications
    Community and sport organizations are invited to apply for the 2017 Parasport Jumpstart Fund. In 2017, the Parasport Jumpstart Fund will support even more Parasport programs across the country through a grant style program. The focus still remains on improving access to grassroots participation for children and youth but has expanded to include more opportunities for a variety of sports and programming type.
