    ERIC HONETSCHLAGER ELECTED NEW SASK SPORT INC. PRESIDENT
    Eric Honetschlager was elected President of Sask Sport Inc. at the sport federation's annual general meeting in Regina. He was originally elected to the board of directors in 2009 by the Saskatchewan Amateur Wrestling Association, and has served on the Sport Committee, Awards and Recognition Committee, Aboriginal Sport Leadership Council, and Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan Management Committee.     The Professional Business Leadership Certificate will provide you with increased awareness and understanding of organizational leadership and will enable you to become a more effective, evolved leader. You will explore the philosophies of a well rounded leader from a career development and personal development perspective.     ATHLETE WITH A DISABILITY FUNDING INITIATIVES
    Saskatchewan has the second highest rate in Canada of people who live with a disability at 14.5%. Sport can play an important role in the lives of people with a disability by being part of a healthy lifestyle and providing access to a social network and peer support while developing self-discipline and positive self esteem. Sask Sport Inc. is investing in two new programs because we believe all people, regardless of ability, should be given the chance to participate in sport activities.

    KIDSPORT™ FUN & FITNESS CORPORATE CHALLENGE
    Thank you to all of the KidSport™ Fun & Fitness Corporate Challenge participants for generously fundraising over $111,000 for KidSport™. The 15th Annual KidSport™ Fun & Fitness Corporate Challenge took place on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the University of Regina. The event ran through 9 various stations that challenge the mind, body and sense of humour!

    KIDSPORT™ RECEIVES BIG DONATION FROM DON NARCISSE ALL-STAR EVENTS
    KidSport™ Saskatchewan is proud to announce that the recent Don Narcisse All-Star Event presented by Viterra raised over $41,900 for KidSport™. The All-Star Event included a football camp for kids and an End Zone Experience gala dinner featuring some of the CFL's former and current greats - including Narcisse, Henry Burris and Kerry Joseph.

    COLETTE BOURGONJE NAMED SASK SPORT INC. APRIL ATHLETE OF THE MONTH
    Nominated by the Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association, Colette competed in the IPC Biathlon and Cross Country World Championships in Russia, where she won gold in the 10 km event, placed sixth in the 5km event, and finished eighth in the sprint. The other nominees were the Provincial Junior Racquetball Team, and Jeff Basset, Broomball.

     

    SHSAA 2011 COACHES SYMPOSIUM
    This year the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan is please to be partnering with the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) on their 2011 Coaches Symposium. The Symposium is taking place on August 15th & 16th at Aden Bowman Collegiate in Saskatoon. The event is open to community coaches as well as high school coaches. This is a chance for coaches to participate in an excellent professional development opportunity with a talented line up of presenters. Read More

    ZULKOSKEY WINS FENCING AWARD
    Saskatoon's Brian Zulkoskey has received the first ever President's Bulilders Award presented by the Canadian Fencing Federation. During the past 31 years, Zulkoskey has contributed to the sport of fencing as both a coach, a position which he currently holds, and an athlete at both the provincial and national levels. He has also spent many years as the President of the Saskatchewan Fencing Association. Read More
