    SASKTEL INDIGENOUS YOUTH AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE
    The 19th Annual SaskTel Indigenous Youth Awards of Excellence took place Friday, May 27th at TCU Place where outstanding youth were nominated for 10 category awards. The SaskTel Indigenous Youth Awards of Excellence celebrate outstanding achievement in our young people. The Wicihitowin Foundation established the awards in 1997 with the support of the public, government, and private sector. For more information on these awards, click HERE

     

    SASK SPORT INC. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
    Sask Sport Inc.'s 45th Annual General Meeting is fast approaching! Taking place on Saturday, June 10 at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina. Registration opens from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Membership Sessions will be held from 9:30 - 11:30 am, followed by a Luncheon at 11:45 am, and the Annual General Meeting at 1:00 pm.

    Please be reminded that an AGM registration form is required to be signed by your President and returned to Sask Sport. Thank you to those organizations that have completed this.

     

    KIDSPORT FUN AND FITNESS CHALLENGE IN REGINA AND SASKATOON A HUGE SUCCESS

    NAIG 2017
    Keep up to date on what's happening with NAIG Team Saskatchewan! The North American Indigenous Games 2017 will take place in Toronto, Ontario from July 16-23, 2017. The Team Saskatchewan Steering Committee is working hard to ensure 500 athletes, coaches and managers have the experience of a lifetime at the upcoming games. On their website you will find dates for trials and camps, contact information, forms and all other important Team Saskatchewan news and information. Take a look around their website and learn about the rich history and story of NAIG Team Saskatchewan.

    Toronto 2017 NAIG Sports Schedule Released
    Toronto 2017 NAIG is excited to release the overall sport schedule for this summer's upcoming Games. More than 5,000 participants will compete in 14 sports being held across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including the Region of Hamilton and Six Nations of the Grand River. The schedule outlines competition days for all 14 sports, and the world-class venues they will be hosted in. Competition will kick-off on July 17 with Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Lacrosse, Rifle Shooting, Soccer, and Softball. Competitions will finish on July 22 with the completion of the Soccer and Volleyball.

    2017 CANADA SUMMER GAMES
    The 2017 Canada Summer Games are fast approaching, coming to Winnipeg, just in time for their 50th anniversary. Winnipeg will host the Canada Summer Games July 28- August 13, 2017. Featuring 16 sports, over 250 events and a major cultural festival, the 2017 Canada Games will welcome over 4,000 athletes and coaches and more than 20,000 visitors.

    Get your tickets for the 2017 Canada Summer Games. From July 28 - August 13, 2017, 4,000 young athletes from across Canada will compete in 16 different sports at the Games and you can catch all the action live. The Games kickoff with the Opening Ceremony at MTS Centre and wrap up with what will be an unforgettable Closing Ceremony at Investors Group Field. www.2017canadagames.ca

    The Regina Pride Parade is taking place on Saturday, June 17th 2017 and the Canadian Sport Centre Sask, Sask Sport Inc. and Canadian Olympic Committee are encouraging all those involved in sport to show their support! For the past 4 years, the Canadian Olympic Committee has celebrated Canadian diversity in gender and sexuality by showing their colours and marching in Pride Parades across the country. COC is incredibly proud of our Canadian athletes who have shown such commitment to LGBTQ inclusion both on and off the field of play. This year, COC is participating in Canada's biggest and most diverse Pride Parades including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal. In addition, expanding their support by participating in 6 other Canadian cities over the course of the summer, including Regina, Saskatchewan!     SASK SPORT INC. ANNOUNCES THE APRIL ATHLETE OF THE MONTH AWARD RECIPIENT
    Joel Gagnon of Saskatoon was the recipient of the Sask Sport Inc. April Athlete of the Month Award. He was nominated by Gymnastics Saskatchewan. During the 2016 World Cup Challenge in Hungary, Gagnon successfully executed an element on the parallel bars that no other gymnast has executed. On April 4, 2017, the World Gymnastics Federation (FIG) selected Gagnon's element as one of eight to be added to the Men's Gymnastics Code of Points. The Gagnon element is a skill on parallel bars that is described as a basket roll backwards, with tuck salto half to upper arm hang and recognized as a C element. FIG has named this element "the Gagnon". Media Release

     

    CANADA SOCCER HONOURS RECENT WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM RETIREES JOSÉE BÉLANGER AND KAYLYN KYLE
    Canadian Women's National Team player Josée Bélanger announced her retirement, joining Kaylyn Kyle who announced earlier this month. Both players will be honoured, at the upcoming Canada Soccer Women's National Team home match against Costa Rica on 11 June in Toronto. Read More

    CANADIAN TIRE GOLF CLASSIC TOURNAMENT & JUMPSTART
    Sponsorship and registration package for this year's Canadian Tire Golf Classic tournament, which is a major sponsor for the Jumpstart Afterschool Program. This program provides structured sport, culture, recreation and leadership opportunities for 230 youth (aged 9-12) in 7 schools in Saskatoon. After the first year, about 80% of program participants said they felt confident playing sports, accepted/respected and open to trying new activities, enjoy school, and get along with others in the program.
