SPORT EVENT VISITORS SPEND MORE THAN $13.9 MILLION IN SASKATCHEWAN IN 2008
Statistics from the report Estimated Visitor Expenditures of Regional, National, and International Amateur Sporting Events Hosted in Saskatchewan, show that in 2008 visitor expenditures at 31 major amateur sporting events in the province reached $13.9 million. The 2008 estimates include more than 44,295 spectators and participants. Read More

DAVID MILLAR RECEIVES SASKATCHEWAN ORDER OF MERIT
Congratulations to David Millar of Regina on receiving the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. A long-time sport volunteer, Millar served on the Sask Sport Inc. Board of Directors from 1998 to 2001 and was the Vice President of Saskatchewan Lotteries in 1999-2000. He served on several committees including Audit and Lottery and was the Sask Sport Inc. representative on the Sport Science and Medicine Council of Saskatchewan. Read More

FIONA VINCENT NAMED SASK SPORT INC. OCTOBER ATHLETE OF THE MONTH
Vincent won a total of 10 medals at the World Master Games in Australia, earning eight gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Her outstanding accomplishment comes almost a year after undergoing knee surgery and extensive rehabilitation. Despite these challenges, Vincent persevered to retain her fitness through alternative cross training and went on to compete at the international level at the World Masters Games. Read More

SASKATCHEWAN SPORT AWARDS NOMINATION DEADLINE
The nomination deadline for the Saskatchewan Sport Awards is December 20, 2009. Nominations are being accepted for the Athlete of the Year, Volunteer Recognition, Coaching Dedication and Coach of the Year Awards. CAC is pleased to announce that two exceptional coaches will be presented the Geoff Gowan Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009: emulated wheelchair basketball coach Tim Frick, and world-renowned gymnastics coach Keith Russell.
