    RECOGNIZE YOUR OUTSTANDING 2016 ATHLETES, COACHES, OFFICIALS AND VOLUNTEERS
    Nominations now open and run until midnight December 2, 2016
    All Sask Sport active members and Districts can recognize and honour their Athletes, Coaches, Officials and Volunteers for their outstanding achievements, dedication and contributions in Saskatchewan's amateur sport during 2016 by nominating them for the 2016 Saskatchewan Sport Awards. Don't forget nominations can be up-dated and re-submitted for up to 3 years in the categories of Coach Male & Female Dedication, Official Male & Female and Volunteer awards.

    SEPTEMBER ATHLETE OF THE MONTH AWARD RECIPIENT
    Logan Campbell of Saskatoon is the recipient of the Sask Sport Inc. September Athlete of the Month Award. He was nominated by the Saskatchewan Sailing Clubs Association. Campbell won a bronze medal with Team Canada at the Paralympic Games in the three-person sonar event. The team was in seventh place heading into the final four races and mounted a comeback to win a medal. In the last race, Canada needed to pass France to win the third-place tiebreaker over New Zealand and Canada passed France right at the finish line. Campbell was the only Saskatchewan athlete to receive a medal at the Paralympics. Media Release

    2017 CANADA SUMMER GAMES - WINNIPEG
    July 28 to August 13, 2017
    The Canada Games are our country's largest multi-sport event for young people and will be Celebrating 50 years of Canada Games in 2017. The Canada Games take place every two years since 1967, alternating between summer and winter Games.

    CANADIAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE "FIND AN ACTIVITY" FREE ONLINE RESOURCE
    The Paralympic.ca/find-an-activity tool is designed to help Canadian parents and professionals from health, education, sport and recreation gain easy access to a multitude of resources, activity plans and providers. Resources can be sorted based on location, age, disability type and sport preferences, with the goal of expanding opportunities for children with a disability in sports programming, along with enhancing awareness of parasport.     WISE FUND APPLICATION PROCESS OPENING NOVEMBER!
    The Women in Sport Encouragement (WISE) Fund was created to support women leaders' development and organizations that are currently offering or creating diverse opportunities and programming, along with positive experiences for girls and women in sport and physical activity. Ten recipients will receive a grant of $1000 each to support professional development or programming. CAAWS will be accepting applications beginning on November 21, 2016.

    ADVANCED COACHING DIPLOMA (ACD)
    The Advanced Coaching Diploma provides flexibility for the active coach with a busy schedule. The Diploma is available in a two year, part-time program, but may be obtained in more or less time depending on the location; various delivery schedules are available.     SPORT COACH NCCP COURSE - SASKATOON
    An Introduction to Coaching Track & Field
    Friday, December 9 – Sunday, December 11, 2016
    This National Coaching Certification Programme (NCCP) course within the competition stream targets coaches who wish to work or currently work with young or older athletes in a club or school team setting. Each coach will be introduced to the basics of most of the disciplines of the sport (training and teaching progressions); taught specific theory and practice planning for athletes, warm-up/cool-down exercises, safety precautions, and conditioning. Participating coaches will receive workbooks/CD, additional resources, and will be entered into the NCCP database as a “trained” Sport Coach when they complete the course.

    If you work with, or supervise youth of Aboriginal heritage, this workshop is an essential resource. If you wish to understand, relate to, and apply Aboriginal cultural perspectives that will allow you to motivate, inspire, and lead those youth towards a successful and meaningful lifestyle, this workshop was designed for you.
