WHY BECOME A SPORT OFFICIAL?
Becoming an official is an excellent competitive option for former athletes and coaches who are looking to stay actively involved in a sport and want a new challenge. It's a great role for those who want to be a part of a team, like to have fun, want to stay physically active or challenge their decision making skills. There are also opportunities for those who are currently sport officials and want to try a different sport.
If you are interested in becoming a technical sport official, such as a referee, judge or umpire, contact the Provincial Sport Governing Body (PSGB) of the particular sport you are interested in. The PSGB will be able to provide you with the details of the cost, the time commitment, the training required and the officials' contact for your local area.
If you have any questions regarding multi-sport officials' development, contact Greg Perreaux - Coaching and Officials Development Coordinator at (306) 780-9335.
