RespectED for Sport, Culture & Recreation

The RespectED for Sport, Culture and Recreation Project is an effort to provide education and resources on abuse, harassment and bullying throughout the province. This joint effort at enhancing safety for children and youth involves the participation of Sask Sport, SaskCulture and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA), in collaboration with the Canadian Red Cross, and it's RespectED program, in Saskatchewan.

Programs

  • Programming for Children Aged 5-9
  • Presentations for Youth
  • Workshops for Adults

RespectED: Violence & Abuse Prevention is the name of the national Red Cross program that offers prevention education for children, youth, parents and other caregivers on abuse and bullying. RespectED focuses primarily on delivering workshops through schools across Canada. This is an important environment to start changing some of the attitudes and behaviours than can lead to abuse and bullying; however, it is not the only place where changes in attitude are called for.

RespectED educates and certifies volunteers, teachers, and community members as Prevention Educators. In collaboration with schools, sport organizations, community agencies, and other institutions, RespectED Prevention Educators deliver presentation and workshops that enable participants to define healthy relationships, promote safe environments, learn that abuse and harassment are never the victim's fault and locate resources.
